The Sunni Airport, Brong Ahof, is located in the Sunni capital, in the mid-western part of Ghana. The airport serves the city of Suniyani and was built by the Allied Forces in 1942 as a communications outpost and aerodrome for its own use, but the airstrip was abandoned before the war ended. Later in 1969, Busia’s government decided to build a fully functional airport at this particular location and resulted in a Sunni airport. The construction took a few years and on 13 July 1974, the Sunni Airport was inaugurated by the Commissioner for Communications and Transportation, Col. PK Agyekam. Since there is a street at one end of the airport and a hill near the airport, the runway could not be expanded.
