Where is Luzon Location?
The site of Manila is also the capital of the country and the city of Quizon, a major metropolis. Located in the northern part of the entire Philippine archipelago, the city is surrounded by the Philippine Sea to the east, the Sibuan Sea to the south and the South China Sea to its west. Only the mass of land encircles the northern part of the island where Luzon Strait bisects Luzon from the stretch of Taiwan.
The island is mostly a rectangular area located roughly north of Manila. It spreads in a north – south orientation. There are two peninsulas south of Manila: Batangas and Bisol. One moves towards the south and the other towards the southeast. This bifurcation gives Luzon its very irregular shape.

Geography of luzon island
The coastline here stretches over 3,000 miles (5,000 km) and has a wide range of creeks and fine pegs. Lingayen Bay and Manila Bay lie to its west while the other two, Lamon Bay and Lagonoy Bay lie to its east. The word “Luzon” means “great light” in English. It refers to one-third of the land area of the Philippines. The largest dimension here is 460 mi 140 mi (225 km 740). Seated on the north are important coasts such as the Cordillera Central and the Sierra Madre and many of the Zambales Mountains on the east coast which lie on the mid-western coast. The currents follow the normal north-south trails. Major rivers include Cagayan, Abraham, Agno, Pampanga and Bisol. Tal Lake and Laguna de Bay are important Luzon Island lakes.
History of Luzon Island, Philippines
Back in 1991, the island’s voyage reached a turning point. This was when the Pinatu Mountains exploded in the Zambal Mountains, about 55 miles (90 km) northwest of Manila. The geography of the island’s central plan changed permanently after this eruption. This disrupted agriculture and caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of inhabitants.
